How the Young Warriors Network Evolved

While Lee Mason was studying to become a specialist in the addictions recovery field he was required to do numerous presentations as part of his training and development process. Since he had a background in drug addiction he decided to share the realities with his classmates in the form of mini workshop presentations. Lee soon came to understand that the rest of his classmates had knowledge of alcohol but knew very little about drugs, so he focused on sharing the real facts about hard core drug addiction. Drugs were beginning to have a real impact on the communities his classmates came from and they asked him if he would be willing to talk to the youth in their communities about drugs. Lee started out with a day long workshop that soon developed into a three day workshop that focused on alcohol and drug abuse but soon discovered there was so much more that needed to be addressed in order to help youth avoid the pitfalls of addiction. In 1995 Lee started the Young Warriors Foundation as an organization to bring youth workshops to communities throughout British Columbia. Being on the road opened his eyes to the needs in many communities and, to help resolve those needs he developed numerous workshops and healing and training programs. Soon he was facilitating across Western Canada and up into the Yukon and North West Territories and is still going strong ten years later. 2005 arrived and since it is now the tenth anniversary of the Young Warriors Foundation we have decided to honor this milestone with a name change that reflects the network that has developed over the years with our many friends and colleagues from all the communities and organizations we have had the honor of working with. The Young Warriors Network web site has been designed to provide all communities with easy access to the many programs we offer. We will continually update this site as new information and articles become available that we believe will be of great benefit to your community members. Thank you for taking the time to visit our site, we sincerely hope there are articles and programs that will be of benefit to your community
